My Story

A man with short, light brown hair and a beard, wearing a light blue polo shirt, smiling at the camera on a rocky beach during sunset.

Harry Lesgold, LMFT (#162370)

I transitioned from writing and stand-up comedy to therapy, infusing my conversations with creativity, authenticity and a unique appreciation for humor, even when discussing the most challenging topics.

A Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I specialize in assisting individuals and couples in enhancing relationships, navigating significant life transitions and recovering from betrayal. I also work closely with clients to manage anxiety, improve communication and overcome recurring patterns.

My approach is characterized by warmth, directness, practicality and occasional humor. Therapy should be a genuine and open conversation, not a clinical interrogation. While I take my clients’ struggles and challenges seriously, healing doesn't necessitate pretending that life isn’t absurd at times.

Outside of my professional life, I'm a devoted father, avid sports fan, fitness enthusiast and movie buff. I reside in San Diego with my fiancée and our dogs and share the common challenge of many of my clients: finding a balance between work, relationships, family and personal well-being.

Clients often express their gratitude for my approach, which goes beyond simply nodding and asking, “And how does that make you feel?” Instead, I bring curiosity, honesty, humor and a genuine willingness to assist individuals in confronting and overcoming their problems head-on.

My goal is to help people experience less suffering, foster deeper connections and build fulfilling and enjoyable lives.
